I started The Back Porch News to provide a timely source of news for the folk music community. While we have fine print publications, radio and web broadcasters and web sites and email lists about various aspects of our community. I don’t think there is an online source dedicated to news about the folk world.
Hopefully you’ll find it fun, and useful enough to stop back often. Even better, a website doesn’t have to be static like a newspaper or magazine, you can leave a comment and read comments by other readers on any article. Or if you’d rather, you can drop me a line using the contact form. If you’ve got news to share, or see something elsewhere that you think should be mentioned here send it along.
One of the best things about folk music for me, and I think for many people is that it’s something we make together rather than something that’s done for us. This is news by for and about the folk music community. It’s our community and our news. So welcome and I hope to hear from you soon.
