Stan Wilson Dead at 83
Stan Wilson, a major figure in the San Francisco folk revival died at his home last week, he was 83. A protege of Josh White, Wilson was described as “the entertainer to see on the San Francisco music scene of the mid-1950s” and was largely responsible for putting the legendary night club “the hungry ‘i’” on the map.
His songs “Jane, Jane, Jane” and “A Rolling Stone” were recorded by the Kingston Trio and he is generally credited with having a broad influence on their repertoire.
