Ed Halpern Has Died
Ed Halpern one of the founders of the Philadelphia Folk Festival and long time board member of the Philadelphia Folksong Society died last Thursday. He was 78. Together with his wife Esther he also ran the Gilded Cage Coffee House from 1956-1969. “The Cage” was became the center of the folk music revival in Philadelphia during 1950’s and 1960’s.
