June Carter and Johnny Cash on Pete Seeger’s Rainbow Quest

In the mid 60’s Pete Seeger had an educational television show on WNJU-TV. During the 38 episode run of the show Pete interviewed and picked with many of the leading lights of the 60’s folk revival including Judy Collins, Elizabeth Cotten, Sonny Terry & Brownie Mcghee, Mississippi John Hurt, Hedy West, The Stanley Brothers, Doc Watson and Richard & Mimi Farina. This YouTube clip is from the episode where he interviewed June Carter and Johnny Cash and features June singing ‘I’m Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes’.

The production values seem pretty plain by todays standards but the content is very cool. There seem to be a dozen episodes of the show available on Amazon, two episodes on each DVD.
