WFDU to Air Recreation of Woody Guthrie Tribute
On Sunday November 26th at 3pm WFDU FM will air a recreation of the 1956 Woody Guthrie tribute review “Bound For Glory: A Musical Tribute to Woody Guthrie” The original 1956 tibute, which features Guthrie’s words and music in a script by Millard Lampell was a historic moment early in the folk revival.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the event Ron Olesko assembled a great cast to recreate it before a live audience two weeks ago at NERFA. Tom Chapin and Robert Cohen provided the naration and the cast includes Danny Bakan, The Dirty Stayout Skifflers with Rick Nestler, Greg Greenway, Joe Jencks, Hope Machine, Karen Mal, David Massengill, Rik Palieri, Laurie MacAllister & Abbie Gardner of Red Molly, Danny Schmidt, Toby Walker, Amy Carol Webb, Bethany Yarrow & Rufus Cappadocia.
