The Canadian Folk music awards for 2006 were announced Sunday December 10th.

Best Album - Contemporary

Penny Lang - Stone & Sand & Sea & Sky (Madeira Park, BC / formerly of Montreal)
Also nominated: Corb Lund - Hair in My Eyes Like a Highland Steer (Edmonton, AB), Jim Byrnes - House of Refuge ( Vancouver, BC), Bruce Cockburn - Life Short Call Now (Toronto, ON), The Wailin’ Jennys - Firecracker (Winnipeg, MB / Montreal QC)

Best Album - Traditional

Nicolas Boulerice et Olivier Demers - Un peu d’ci, Un peu d’ça (Montreal, QC)
Also nominated: James Keelaghan - A Few Simple Verses (Winnipeg, MB), Claude Méthé - L’Amant Confesseur ( Ste-Béatrix, QC), Strada – Gamos (Québec, QC), Serre L-Écoute - Fortunes et Perditions (Québec, QC)
