An inherited 1924 Gibson F5 Master Model mandolin, taken to a Lawrence, Kansas instrument shop for minor repairs, turned out to have been signed by designer Lloyd A. Loar. According to the article by Bill Graham, the family is planning to sell this collector’s item as is, with an asking price of $165,000.
